There was a positive mood in the air, with another Northern Ireland visit just days away and your blogmaster having broken up from work for a fortnight, all was well. Saturday 18 April dawned sunny and relatively warm as Paul and Gary made tracks to the farm for another afternoon of work on 2599. Further steps in the right direction were made today when Gary managed to get the anchor pin bushes reamed out to accept the new pins, before going on to refit the relined brake shoes.
Paul was so pleased with Gary's progress that I was summoned to the farm to have a look. I was to be collected by an unusually large blue & cream 'car' (namely 1321) and, naturally, we took the most indirect route back to the farm stopping off under the arch of the old Kimberley Brewery, now sadly lying derelict awaiting its fate. Smiles all round upon viewing progress, and of course it was only natural that we celebrated this progress by paying a customary visit to a local ale house type-establishment for an alcoholic beverage (for most) in the afternoon sun.
